About Keelvar Systems

Electronic market design and optimization.

Market design is not a zero-sum game. When intelligent rules are imposed on a market, all parties involved in the trade can benefit. Keelvar's approach to web-based market systems involves facilitating synergies for traders so that value is maximised. We apply this approach to public procurement and energy markets. Keelvar's capabilities in capturing potential savings via mathematical optimisation models and algorithms for solving these problem optimally differentiate it from its competitors. Keelvar can extract more savings for buyers whilst permitting suppliers to operate more efficiently and profitably.

For example, when a tender is issued for transportation services, companies may offer discounts on combinations of routes and times that permit increased utilisation. An expressive approach to soliciting discounts is required in order to extract the potential savings. This is where Keelvar can offer a distinct value proposition.

Keelvar was founded by Dr. Alan Holland, a research scientist based in University College  Cork, Ireland. His research is focused on electronic commerce and mechanisms for  improving economic efficiency in complex trading environments such as  gas storage, transportation, print, packaging, waste, chemicals and maintenance services. The name "Keelvar" is derived from the Gaelic word for sensible, ciallmhar

Phonetic Spelling.
