Cork City Council deploys Keelvar's Spend Optimizer

Cork City Council
Keelvar has signed a deal with Cork City Council to supply optimisation for a new vehicle fleet tender. Dr. Alan Holland, CEO of Keeelvar, said "Cork City Council has now raised the bar for all other public bodies in Ireland. This sets a marker for how spend optimisation will transform public procurement in Ireland and further afield". The project involves the purchase of over 210 vehicles across more than a dozen categories. Tenderers will be allowed to structure packages in a manner that allows for synergies and cost savings that can be shared with the purchaser in conditional discounting arrangements. The new offering will also alow suppliers to offer constraints on risk management so that they can avoid outcomes with too many or too few vehicles. This approach promises to herald a new dawn in public procurement best practice that encompasses optimisation capabilities that rely on cloud computing and sophisticated algorithms developed within University College Cork and exclusively licensed to Keelvar. It promises benefits to both suppliers and the purchaser by realising the vision of smart procurement whereby suppliers can design cost savings outcomes tailored to their capabilities and needs.
